We have been hearing great stories from the recipients of the Maddie’s Fund “Put Your Best Face Forward” grant and The Animal Rescue Site’s $100,000 Shelter+ Challenge. Thanks to Maddie’s Fund, the Petfinder.com Foundation provided $50,000 to shelters. The grant rewards shelters that provide excellent customer service that helps to get their animals adopted.
"We are both surprised, and grateful for your $500 check for winning the Maddie’s Fund "Put Your Best Face Forward" event. It came at a time when it was much needed to pay for our animal’s medical care. This is continuous, because most of the animals that come to us are in need. We are a volunteer organization with no paid employees. All of our food is donated, but the medical care is where we used the money and needed it most. We have been in business since 1980 and are no-kill, so a lot of our dogs are over 10 years old. We also have a litter of feral dogs that are now 10 years old. We have about 30 dogs in our care right now. Thank you once again for keeping our animals happy and healthy!”
"We want to thank you for providing our shelter, as well as hundreds of other shelters, an avenue to win much needed grant money. All the voting and clicking was worth it. Seminole County Animal Services is hoping to use our grant money to help us build an outdoor free roaming enclosure for some of our shelter cats. This enclosure will give our felines the opportunity to be outside sunning themselves and enjoying the view. It will definitely enhance their lives while awaiting adoption. Thank you again for the opportunity to participate in such a fun challenge.”
The third and final $100,000 Shelter+ Challenge for 2010 began on Sept. 20 and runs until Dec. 19. A total of 83 grants to be awarded! Click to Give and Vote for your favorite shelter.
