Longmont Humane Society, Inc.: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Longmont Humane Society received 30 KONGs through the Petfinder Foundation KONG Toy Grant.

KONGs play an important part in our shelter enrichment program by helping to keep dogs occupied, entertained and happy. Longmont Humane Society's teen volunteers clean and stuff KONGs daily, then freeze them for use in the kennels. The 30 KONGs granted by the Petfinder Foundation have joined this important assembly line.

How many pets did this grant help?

Because the KONGs are cleaned and reused, we anticipate that the 30 KONGs will be used by approximately 300 dogs.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Puppies Hershey, Toffee and Nestle were the first dogs at Longmont Humane Society to give the new KONGs a try. The KONGs are perfect for teething pups, and they curiously explored the different shapes and sizes until they each found their favorite KONGs. All three puppies have been adopted into loving homes.
