Sanilac County Humane Society: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Special medical expenses for our dogs.

Frannie came to us with another dog who was from one of her many litters. Her name is Beaner. They were inseparable, so we wished to keep them together. We did find a good home for them; however, the adopters had limited funds, so we used Petfinder Foundation funds to get the surgery for Frannie as well as to spay Beaner.

How many pets did this grant help?

We were able to use Petfinder Foundation funds to help with medical care for five of our animals.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Frannie (first photo) and Beaner (second photo) came to us from a breeder. They are adorable dachshunds. Beaner is from one of Frannie’s many litters. Both needed to be spayed, but Frannie had very large mammary tumors. The surgery for her was very extensive as all her mammary glands had to be removed with the tumors. Recovery was slow, but seven weeks since surgery, she is doing well, is energetic and is giving and receiving much love from her new owners. Beaner has been adopted as well.
