Stokes County Humane Society: WAHL Grooming Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Wahl Shampoo

The pups and dogs we save come from many situations: shelter, community, large-scale seizures, etc. We are partnered with North Shore Animal League America and we take pride in sending them healthy, clean animals two times a month to prepare for adoption into loving homes. Bathing is part of that important ritual. Thanks to the generous donation of a case of sweet-smelling shampoo and two cases of samples, all our kids smell and look amazing when they begin their journey! Thank you, Wahl and the Petfinder Foundation, for your continued support of those who assist animals needing a second chance at life!

How many pets did this grant help?

So far, 52, with more to go! THANK YOU!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

The drainpipe puppies, as they were dubbed, we rescued from an owner who allowed his dog to get pregnant every time she was able to. He would just let them run around wild and unsocialized, many getting killed in the road they lived on and turning the rest over to the local shelter so untamed and sickly, they were euthanized. We, however, intervened and rescued them and began the task of cleaning these disgusting-smelling pups. (Inside the huge drainpipe were the skeletons of lots of carcasses. They would survive on these, for he was not fond of buying puppy food.) It took several trips to get them all but they are thriving now and doing great and getting ready to head to North Shore to find their forever homes. The Wahl Gentle Oatmeal Shampoo was a godsend with these smelly pups!
