Second Chance Pet Adoption League, Inc.: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

All money is used for the medical care of the dogs we rescue. Two of the many dogs rescued during Q2 2017 are Cinnamon and Mango. Both of these dogs still are in foster care with us and are available for adoption.

As is true of most of the dogs we rescue, Cinnamon and Mango both were in need of medical care. This grant was used to help pay for a portion of their medical care.

How many pets did this grant help?

This grant helped to pay for a portion of these two dogs' medical care.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Cinnamon, a 7-year-old pit bull terrier mix (first photo), came to us with a large hernia that our veterinarians repaired during her spay. Cinnamon is a lovely, gentle dog whose owner moved and left her with relatives who could no longer keep her. She’s a mellow couch potato who loves to cuddle and is very loyal to her person once she bonds. Meet her: www.petfinder.com/petdetail/37206344

Mango, a tiny 3-year-old Chihuahua, came to us with his tail half bitten off and needed emergency surgery to amputate the injured portion. He also needed to be neutered. Mango has now fully healed physically from his tail amputation. He still will chase/try to attack his tail at times when he gets nervous or stressed. He’s on medication, which has helped a lot, but will need a calmer, adult home where he can feel safe. Meet him: www.petfinder.com/petdetail/38161007
