Lucas County Pit Crew: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kong toys were distributed to dogs in foster care, with dogs on crate rest from surgeries as the top priority.

We had a mixed review with the products. Several of our dogs shredded the toys within minutes and several dogs absolutely loved them and played with them for extended periods of time.

How many pets did this grant help?

Eight dogs received the toys, and we just gave the remaining toys to two dogs who had surgery this week.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Delaney came to us from our local dog pound, as she as unable to walk or stand. Both of her ACL’s were so tight that they restricted the movement of her back legs. She had double ACL surgery and needed rest with therapy. Being a young dog, she struggled with being so restricted. Filling the Kong with tasty treats and holding it for her to lick during her therapy helped her get through the rough times. She now is enjoying frozen food and peanut butter in her Kong during crate time. Delaney is a sweet girl who is available for adoption. Meet her: www.petfinder.com/petdetail/37869756
