Enrichment toys and food for animals.

It helps us buy food (some of our dogs/cats need special diets) and much-needed thinking/enrichment toys. Of course grants like this also help us afford to keep the animals until we can find them homes.

Karl, a mastiff mix, was a dog who came to us as a stray on March 18, 2014. Karl is a goofy boy who was very beloved by volunteers and staff, but some of our potential adopters were intimidated by his size. Karl stayed with us, getting training and love, until he found his forever home on Oct. 1. Karl was one of the dogs who was “sponsored” on Petfinder through the Sponsor a Pet grant. This grant helped us to buy him toys that he loved, such as Kong wobblers, to keep him busy and happy during his stay here at HSJC.
