How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

To subsidize discounted adoptions for large dogs. Since it is our 51st year, we offered $51 off the regular adoption donation requested.

The grant funding allowed us to highlight large dogs in our care, who tend to have longer lengths of stay in the shelter, by making them a great value for adopters. It sparked conversations that made people seeking a new pet consider a larger-breed dog, as they heard about the challenges some of the dogs have during longer shelter stays. It was perfect timing, as puppies were out in force, and people are always drawn to them instead of the large dogs.

Preston is such a smart boy! He is patiently waiting for his forever home, practicing his “sit” and “stay” commands daily. He loves to walk on a leash, and is learning to be patient and not pull too hard. He gets along well with other dogs and is quickly becoming a playgroup favorite. Come meet Preston today!
