Clark County Humane Society: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

To purchase 194 DHLPP [distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and parvovirus] vaccines.

It gave us additional finances to purchase the DHLPP vaccines. We properly vaccinate puppies and dogs in our care prior to their adoptions. We had been boostering every three weeks but have learned that every two weeks -- for puppies, especially -- is the way to go. That means we are using more vaccines than before and we appreciate the additional funding to help us cover that for the next month or so.

How many pets did this grant help?

194; possibly a few less, as some puppies may have been with us for two to three vaccines

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Jonathan is a 4-month-old chocolate Lab. He came to us as a stray with sarcoptic mange. If he were healthy, he would be with us for his stray hold and adopted immediately afterwards. Because we are treating his mange, his stay with us will be around two months. He has received two DHLPP vaccines with us and will most likely be here for a third. He is a sweet and wonderful puppy, and now that he is near the end of his treatment, we are able to interact with him. He loves to play ball and already brings it back to us. He’s going to be a wonderful addition to any family. The first picture is from when he first came to us. The second is of him getting a booster shot. The third is him waiting for the ball to be thrown. The fourth is a blurry action shot of his play. Meet Jonathan: https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/36572556
