Help Haiti for Animal Relief
A coalition of animal protection groups has been created to aid animals affected by the devastating January 12th earthquake in Haiti. The Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH) is jointly led by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) in partnership with over a dozen of the world’s leading animal protection organizations, including the Petfinder.com Foundation.
ARCH was formed specifically to deal with the crisis in Haiti and has extensive experience in providing aid during disasters by caring for injured, homeless, diseased, or starving animals. The rescue and recovery efforts are always authorized and coordinated with local government and international relief agencies, which recognize that addressing animal issues is an essential part of any disaster response.
The animal rescue teams are on the ground in Haiti and prepared to provide everything from direct rescue and veterinary care for injured animals to longer term vaccinations or other efforts to prevent outbreaks of diseases such as rabies and leptospirosis.
