In the wake of Hurricane Irma, the Petfinder Foundation has granted $3,000 to Second Chance Animal Rescue in Villalba, Puerto Rico, which was left without power or water and with damage to its roof, fence and vehicles as a result of category-5 hurricane winds. The shelter, which is home to 140 dogs and 13 cats, will use the grant funds to fix the roof of the building that houses the animals, the property’s fence and the damage to the frame of the vehicle that it uses to transport animals to veterinary appointments and to the airport to travel to their forever homes.
