Animal Shelter & Rescue Success Stories

Much of our work funds grants under $5,000 to local shelters like yours to help them prepare for emergencies, recover from disaster and better protect, care for and adopt out homeless pets.

Housing for Horses

The Petfinder.com Foundation supports all animals, rescue groups, and shelters in need during times of disaster. Recently, Petfinder.com Foundation awarded $40,000.00 to Habitat For Horses, Inc. to help rebuild the ranch after Hurricane Ike devastated their organization. Full story.

The Virginia Beach SPCA was hit with a hurricane that devastated their shelter and made functioning on a daily basis not possible. Right around this time, Petfinder.com Foundation gave them a grant to assist with repairing their facility. Full story.

The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society (BASS) is located in the flood plain of New Jersey. When the adjacent Pequannock River began to rapidly overflow they were forced to quickly evacuate their shelter. Full Story.

Felines Friends, Inc. is a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter and animal refuge. Like many shelters located in the Midwest, they suffer from storms and unpredictable weather changes which leads to devastation to their shelter. Full story.

Often times, in times of disaster, shelter will experience power loss causing great damage to the shelter and it’s animals. Humane Society of Missouri is one such shelter that often loses power when storms hit the Missouri area. Full story.
